Latina K Turner D’Ho/Manuel Palma del Rey (drag king), is a burlesque and drag artist from Guayaquil, Ecuador residing in Olympia, WA. Latina made their burlesque debut in November of 2010 under the Perlita Picante moniker, rebranding to Latina K Turner D’Ho in 2022. Latina is co-founder of Papaya Magic Cabaret, the first and currently only all-Latine burlesque and cabaret performance collective in Olympia and possibly the PNW, established in 2018. Papaya Magic Cabaret is the first all-Latine group ever to be selected to perform in any showcase at the The Burlesque Hall of fame Weekender in Las Vegas in 2023. Latina is also founding member of Rock Candy Burlesque, and member of the Free Range Drag collective also in Olympia. Latina performs solo or with their troupes Papaya Magic Cabaret and Free Range Drag throughout the PNW.
While my focus as a producer is to promote the visibility of Latine Artists, as a rule I am dedicated to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and fair compensation within the greater Burlesque and Drag Communities, while prioritizing hiring of BIPOC artists and crew. As an Ecuadorian immigrant and an Olympia resident for 18 years, I understand the importance of providing spaces for Latine artists to share their stories through Burlesque, Drag, and variety acts. It is my mission to ensure that Latine voices are not only heard but celebrated. As such, my flagship production Azúcar stands as a beacon of empowerment, representing the complexity and richness of Latine identities, and contributing to the broader tapestry of the local performing arts scene.
